The sound was out at the start of the show, but Austin Aries and Bobby Roode and Kenny King and Zema Ion were brawling around the Impact Zone. Earl Hebner corralled the four men into the ring.

Austin Aries and Kenny King vs. Bobby Roode and Zema Ion

Aries and Roode started the official match but Roode quickly tagged Ion into the match. Aries got the better of Ion and worked him over as he stared a hole through Roode. King and Aries continued to tear into Ion and they worked a series of quick tags to keep him on their side of the ring. Roode managed to drag King out of the ring at one point and he rammed him into the apron. Ion followed with a dive on King and the heels took over the action.

Back from the break, King got a hope spot but Roode and Ion managed to keep him off of his feet. The heels continued their assault. Aries eventually had enough and charged the ring to take out Roode. King followed with his finisher on Ion for the 1-2-3.

Winners: Austin Aries and Kenny King

A threeway match for the TNA heavyweight championship. Bobby Roode was out first and played it up perfect. The man’s something special for sure. Jeff Hardy was out next and probably got the biggest pop of the night and was followed by Austin Aries who also got a nice ovation. The match took it’s time getting started and Roode was gold when he took a chair and sat near the pitchers mound. There’s not a whole lot to go into about the match. They all had their moments to shine and went about 12-15 minutes. Aries retained by hitting his finisher on Roode. A solid finish to a pretty enjoyable show. Aries took pictures in the ring after the show for anybody who paid out the money for one.

Austin Aries: Evolution Of A-Double DVD Sale

With Austin Aries’ recent rise to fame in Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor has taken the time to put up a DVD set for Austin Aries entitled “Austin Aries: Evolution Of A-Double”. It’s a 2-disc set covering some of the best matches Austin had while in Ring of Honor.

Below is the description of the DVD.

One of the most explosive, charismatic, intense stars to ever enter the ROH arena, Austin Aries immediately made an impression on the fans and left them clamoring for more. The man once referred to as “The Wrestling Machine” awed the ROH faithful with his combination of technical precision, high flying abilities, and a deadly combination of maneuvers that launched him into the Ring of Honor history books when he faced down Samoa Joe at “Final Battle 2004”.

This is a look at how Aries rose up the ranks in ROH, made history one cold December night in 2004, and went on to establish himself as one of the world’s preeminent grapplers through his matches against the likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Homicide, and James Gibson amongst many others. Whether it be alongside his Generation Next cohorts, reigning as a World Tag Team Champion with Roderick Strong, or standing alone as the ROH World Champion, Austin Aries always brought the fight to his competition. From GenNext to World Champion to one of the few man called an “ROH Icon”, this is the Evolution of A-Double.

You can purchase the DVD, and check out the disc listing, on Ring of Honor’s website by clicking here.

Sting made his way to the ring. Sting announced that he was filling in for Hogan as GM while Hogan recovered. Sting called out Aces and Eights but Aries came out instead. He warned Aces and Eights that if they showed up tonight, they would have to deal with him. Angle came out and said he wants to fight Aces and Eights too.

Bobby Roode joined the brouhaha, slowly, and he said that he knows who is behind all of the attacks. Roode blamed Storm for the attacks because he’s been out of the title picture for almost a year. I guess Roode forgot Lockdown.

Storm ran out and attacked Roode from behind. The two brawled into the ring. Eventually, Angle pulled Storm off and Roode made his escape.

Backstage, Aries revealed who’s going to face Zema Ion for the X Division Championship. They each made their case to Aries. Aries kicked Zema Ion out of the room and the wrestlers went back to bickering.

Sting spoke lighting fast backstage about Aces and Eights with Austin Aries. Sting told Aries to make some cuts in the X-Division.

Backstage, Aries cut Rashad Cameron first for saying nothing but Rashad Cameron Movement over and over. Aries continued his cuts backstage and he asked guys why they deserved the shot. Dutt complained about his shoulder and hairspray for why he lost Ultimate X. King said he has the side, speed, charisma, and the good looks. He said he’s the man to fill Aries’ shoes. Darsow said he brings an aggressive dominance to the X Division.

Aries said the X-Division is about flash and pretty, though, so Darsow was eliminated due to his style.

Zema Ion vs. Kenny King for the X-Division Championship

King took control early but Ion managed to turn the tide. Ion worked over King’s neck with chokes and rest holds. Ion hit a tilt-o-whirl facebuster for a near fall.

King made his comeback and hit a corkscrew dive to Ion on the floor. Ion got his hairspray and distracted the referee. Bobby Roode ran down and attacked King while he stood on the apron.

Ion ran over and covered the fallen King for the pinfall victory.

Zema Ion defeated Kenny King to retain the X-Division Championship.

Austin Aries ran out and attacked Bobby Roode.

Aces and Eights ran out and attacked Angle after the match. Austin Aries, Sting, AJ Styles, and James Storm ran out to fight off Aces and Eights. When Storm came out Aces and Eights booked it from the ring without confrontation. Tenay announced next week we will see Kurt Angle vs. James Storm in a BFGS match.

7/21/12 Impact Wrestling Basebrawl Event Results
Date: July 22nd, 2012 | Filed in Impact Wrestling Tour Results | Author: Candice

Brooklyn, New York

Christy Hemme announced the main event to bring out Bobby Roode. Next was the TNA Heavyweight champion Austin Aries to one of the biggest pops of the night.

TNA World champion Austin Aries beat Bobby Roode to retain the TNA World Title. The match started with a “U-S-A!” chant, which Aries heard and responded to by doing the Hacksaw Jim Duggan walk with the thumb. Roode then did the Bret Hart walk to represent Canada. Early on, a lot of feeling out and cool mat wrestling moves. Awesome action out of the ring with a Aries suicide divethat sent Roode flying into the guardrail. Aries was back in the ring and Roode brought the belt back into the ring and fought with Brian Hebner for it.

Hebner got the belt and while he wasn’t looking Roode low-blowed Aries and hit the fisherman suplex pin for a two count – everyone went crazy thinking the match was over. Roode then put Aries in the Crossface, which led to a Chris Benoit chant. Aries fought out and Roode followed up with a spinebuster for a close nearfall. Roode got the belt again and Hebner again fought for the belt until Roode let go and sent Hebner flying. Aries then low-blowed Roode and hit the Brainbuster for the pin and the win. Awesome match that had many highspots and very close nearfalls.

Newsday Interview: Aries heading to Brooklyn

Austin Aries recently did an interview with Newsday talking about his time in TNA, being a champion, working with Hogan, and more. You can read a small highlight below, and head over to Newsday to read more.

TNA Champion Austin Aries spoke about his belief that his time as champion would come. “When I think about it, the progression in the last 18 months, I have always been confident that I could be in this position,” Aries said. “I don’t know if surreal is the word. It’s more like ‘finally,’ that the hard work, the moments of doubts, in the end all those things work themselves out.”

Aries also commented on working with Hulk Hogan. “That’s been great,” he said. “That’s maybe when the word surreal comes in. That’s where my mom calls and says, ‘Did you ever think that when you were little and playing with those rubber wrestling dolls that you’d be in the ring with Hulk Hogan?’ When you have those moments you go back into your childhood. Who knew how many years ago that you’d be doing this?”
